“Police Considering Anti-Corruption Laws in Probe of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor”

Published on

Police are reportedly considering the use of anti-corruption laws to probe Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor following his recent arrest. Sources indicate that law enforcement is conducting a preliminary examination into sex trafficking accusations against the former prince, who was apprehended on his birthday last month on suspicion of misconduct while in a public role. He was subsequently released pending further investigation after being held for 11 hours.

This development stems from the disclosure of certain documents within a trove of three million files released by the US Department of Justice, which suggested potential breaches of confidentiality during Andrew’s time as the UK’s trade envoy in association with a convicted sex offender. Despite the allegations, Andrew has consistently refuted any claims of wrongdoing.

In a recent statement, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Mark Rowley disclosed that UK law enforcement agencies are pushing for the unredacted disclosure of files linking Jeffrey Epstein to the UK from American authorities. This request is part of a broader effort to evaluate various sexual misconduct allegations and determine if they warrant criminal investigations.

Sir Rowley emphasized the importance of accessing unredacted evidence to support ongoing inquiries, stating that investigations must follow the evidence trail without bias, even when involving prominent individuals. Additionally, reports suggest that police are contemplating the application of outdated corruption statutes in their scrutiny of Andrew, with sources indicating a parallel investigation into sex trafficking allegations against him.

Former head of Met Royalty policing Dai Davie stressed the need for a comprehensive examination of all applicable laws in this matter, urging authorities to scrutinize not only Andrew but also anyone who may have been involved in or benefited from the alleged misconduct.

Thames Valley Police, leading the probe into the misconduct allegations, announced that they would limit updates to information released in official statements. Nine police forces are collectively investigating Epstein’s connections to the UK, including his ties to the embattled royal. Andrew, who has consistently denied any impropriety, is currently preparing to move into his new residence, Marsh Farm, following his departure from Wood Farm on the Sandringham estate. Renovations at the new property include security enhancements, landscaping, carpeting, and the installation of a satellite television dish.
