Police reported that a man on an electric dirt bike was the apparent target of a shooting incident by a gang firing from a car. The incident occurred on Bowland Drive in Liverpool, with armed officers responding to gunshots on Fulwood Way. The suspects fled, leading to a brief chase that resulted in a collision with a police vehicle on Melling Road before abandoning the car on Epsom Close.
Following the pursuit, the suspects attempted to escape on foot but were apprehended by officers. Four men, aged 33, 42, 21, and 23, all from Liverpool, were arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear, evading a vehicle stop, and dangerous driving. They are currently in police custody, with no reported injuries. Authorities are actively searching for the targeted rider.
A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of two loaded and operational firearms hidden in bushes with the help of a police dog. The investigation is ongoing, and officers have reopened Melling Road, though the canal path near Aintree Lane remains cordoned off. Eyewitnesses reported seeing a black vehicle, potentially a Range Rover, at the scene.
Detective Sergeant Leighanne Davies condemned the shooting, emphasizing the reckless nature of such acts and the disregard for public safety. The police are focused on removing firearms from the streets and holding those responsible accountable. While four suspects have been arrested, authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward promptly.
