Prince George to Follow Father’s Path at Eton

Published on

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have officially announced that Prince George will be enrolling at Eton College starting September, following in his father’s footsteps. At 13 years old, Prince George is currently completing his final term at Lambrook School, where he has been a student since September 2022. The £63,000-a-year school, a 12-minute drive from their Forest Lodge residence, was also attended by Prince Harry and 20 Prime Ministers.

In a statement released on behalf of William and Kate, Kensington Palace confirmed Prince George’s enrollment at Eton College. This shift will not only be significant for George but also for his siblings, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis, who have been attending Lambrook alongside him. With George’s move to Eton, his siblings will continue at Lambrook when the new school year begins, marking George’s first experience of full-time boarding, as his father, Prince William, recently shared that George had been boarding on a part-time basis.

Speculation about Prince George’s choice of secondary education had been circulating for months, with Marlborough College and Oundle School also considered as potential options. Prince William, who attended Eton between 1995 and 2000, was accompanied by his parents, Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and his brother, Prince Harry, on his first day at the prestigious school.

Expert opinions suggest that Prince George’s time at Eton may differ from his father’s experience due to the positive and supportive environment in which he has been raised. Born on July 22, 2013, at the Lindo Wing of St Mary’s Hospital in London, Prince George was christened George Alexander Louis at the Chapel Royal at St James’ Palace.
