“Prince Harry and Meghan Promote Mental Health in Jordan”

Published on

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have commenced their second day in Jordan with a poignant visit to the National Centre for Rehabilitation of Addicts. The royal couple engaged with patients to promote mental health awareness during their international trip, leaving heartfelt messages of encouragement.

Their journey to Jordan was initiated by an invitation from Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, the Director-General of the World Health Organization (WHO), to gain insights into the ongoing humanitarian efforts supporting displaced Syrians and Palestinians seeking refuge in Jordan over several decades.

Established in 2001, the centre offers short-term residential and outpatient services, including medical withdrawal, psychological support, and social counseling.

During their visit, Harry and Meghan penned supportive messages on colorful paper. Meghan’s calligraphy read, “Congratulations on your dedication to care. Wishing you continued healing and happiness,” while Harry emphasized, “It’s OK to not be OK. Trust each other. Congratulations on your recovery. Now share your courage and experience.”

Prior to their stop at the centre, the Duke and Duchess visited the World Central Kitchen, a global organization coordinating the distribution of a million hot meals daily in Gaza. This initiative marked the first philanthropic partnership of Harry and Meghan through Archewell.

In Jordan, the royal couple actively participated in demonstrations of emergency food distribution, highlighting the essential role of the Amman hub in providing sustenance to conflict-affected families.

On their final day in Jordan, Prince Harry and Meghan will be accompanied by a WHO delegation as they meet with female leaders at the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development and tour the King Hussein Cancer Centre.

Their trip, not an official royal visit due to their step back from royal duties in 2020, focuses on engaging with charities and philanthropic endeavors in the region. This visit follows Prince William’s recent official trip to Saudi Arabia, showcasing the Sussexes’ commitment to humanitarian causes in the Middle East.
