Prince Harry made a heartfelt plea for the opening of food and medical aid corridors to assist the people in Gaza during a recent television interview conducted while he was visiting Jordan. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex journeyed to the Middle East at the request of Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesu, the director-general of the World Health Organization (WHO).
The purpose of their two-day visit was to gain insight into the ongoing humanitarian efforts aimed at aiding displaced Syrians and Palestinians who have sought refuge in Jordan over several decades. Upon the conclusion of their trip, Prince Harry spoke emotionally to Channel 4 News, stressing the critical necessity of facilitating access for humanitarian organizations to deliver aid to those most in need.
Reflecting on their time in Jordan, Prince Harry emphasized the importance of shedding light on the severe humanitarian crisis in the region. He commended Jordan for its exemplary moral leadership and described the country as a vital humanitarian center in the Middle East.
The primary focus of the royal couple’s visit was to highlight initiatives supporting vulnerable communities affected by conflict and displacement. Their itinerary included a visit to the Za’atari refugee camp, where they interacted with refugees, and a stop at the Specialty Hospital in Amman, where they offered comfort to a burns victim from Gaza.
On the following day, Prince Harry and Meghan visited the World Central Kitchen headquarters, which coordinates the distribution of one million hot meals daily in Gaza. The organization, the first philanthropic partnership established by the royal couple through Archewell, remains a cause they actively support.
During their visit, they observed food supplies being readied for emergency distribution and acknowledged the pivotal role of the Amman hub in providing sustenance to families affected by conflict. The British Ambassador to Jordan expressed gratitude for the royal couple’s visit, acknowledging their support for the humanitarian efforts in the region.
In addition to highlighting their charitable endeavors, the Sussexes’ trip underscored the importance of international cooperation in addressing humanitarian crises around the world.
