Prince William made a surprise appearance alongside BBC Radio 1 host Greg James during his charity tandem bike ride across the United Kingdom in support of Comic Relief.
The duo met just above Doncaster and pedaled through the scenic South Yorkshire countryside as James progresses on his 1,000km journey from Weymouth to Edinburgh spanning over eight days.
Joining the radio personality on the fifth day of his endeavor, Prince William commended James for his altruistic efforts, stating, “Setting an example through acts of kindness is truly commendable. Volunteering your time, enduring physical challenges, and aiding others are virtues we excel at in this nation, yet often underappreciated. This initiative sheds light on our collective strength and teamwork. Kudos to you, Greg.”
Before reaching the halfway point of his demanding ride, Greg James interacted with enthusiastic supporters, flashing smiles and engaging with cheering fans along his route out of Dinnington. The DJ’s ambitious mission is on track to conclude in Edinburgh this Friday, with his determination fueled by the charitable cause.
Accompanied by double Olympic gold medalist Geraint Thomas on today’s leg of the journey, the pair navigated the tandem bike together. Crowds turned out in full support, with well-wishers lining the streets and displaying encouraging posters to boost Greg’s morale throughout his challenging expedition.
