“Putin Faces Concerns as Ukraine Prepares Strikes on Crimea”

Published on

Vladimir Putin is facing concerns about losing control over Crimea due to impending strikes by Ukraine on the annexed peninsula in the Black Sea.

Recent emergency drills conducted by the Russian high command aimed to simulate repelling a potential sudden invasion by the Ukrainian armed forces in Crimea. This operation, named “Crimean Alert,” involved senior reservists and commanders.

Russian access to Crimea, a strategically important territory seized from Ukraine, has been hampered by the destruction of vital road and rail bridges. Western diplomatic sources suggest that Putin’s apprehensions about potential loss of Crimea are evident, describing it as a significant blow.

Colonel Viktor Murakhovsky, a participant reservist, disclosed details of the war game, which included plans for an unconventional Ukrainian landing operation utilizing drones, long-range weapons, and fast boats. Reports indicate that occupation administrations in Kerch and Feodosia have been instructed to evacuate essential documents and equipment, validating Russian concerns.

An exodus of pro-Putin officials to Russia is underway amidst escalating tensions. Fuel shortages in Crimea have forced officials to leave for the Krasnodar region under the guise of sudden illness.

A resistance group, ATESH, warns that individuals collaborating with Russia in Crimea may soon face consequences as Ukrainian attacks intensify. Recent strikes targeting power plants and military airfields in Crimea have heightened the conflict, leading to further instability.

Russia is also on edge about a potential attempt to sabotage the Crimean Bridge, which could severely impact access to the region. The lack of Russian tourists visiting Crimea this summer underscores the escalating tensions in the area.

Belarusian leader Alexander Lukashenko, a key ally of Putin, has cautioned against traveling to Russia due to heightened security risks along the border regions. Lukashenko emphasized individual discretion in deciding whether to travel to Russia.

In Ukraine, a day of mourning is observed for civilians killed in a recent missile strike in Kyiv, with the death toll rising to 30. Ongoing attacks have resulted in additional civilian casualties, including the recent strike in Sumy region that claimed the lives of four individuals.

President Volodymyr Zelensky condemned Russia’s continued aggression, highlighting the targeting of civilian structures in the conflict. Incidents like the strike on a hospital in Kherson further underscore the escalating humanitarian crisis in Ukraine.

As the conflict intensifies, both Russia and Ukraine remain on edge, with the situation in Crimea and surrounding regions becoming increasingly volatile.
