Qatar Condemns Iran’s Missile Strikes in Gulf

Published on

Recent missile attacks originating from Iran have targeted various locations in the Gulf region.

Qatar has strongly denounced Iran’s aggressive missile strike on its Ras Laffan gas facility, resulting in significant destruction as confirmed by the state energy company. Meanwhile, explosions have been witnessed at multiple sites in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where four individuals sustained injuries from falling debris caused by intercepted missiles.

These assaults occurred shortly after the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran issued a warning that it would strike oil and gas installations in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE in response to Israeli attacks on the South Pars gas field. Qatar’s Foreign Ministry spokesperson, Majed Al Ansari, criticized the Israeli assault as “reckless and irresponsible.”

In response to the escalating tensions, Qatar has expelled the military and security attaches of the Iranian embassy, declaring them as “persona non grata” and mandating their departure within 24 hours.

According to reports from the Wall Street Journal, President Donald Trump has expressed reluctance towards further strikes on Iranian energy facilities following the Israeli offensive on the South Pars gas field. While Trump supported the initial Israeli airstrikes as a warning to Iran regarding the Strait of Hormuz, he is opposed to additional strikes on energy sites.

However, Trump indicated a willingness to consider further action if Iran obstructs the crucial oil route. The situation escalated with reports of four Palestinian women losing their lives due to falling debris in the occupied West Bank post another round of Iranian missile attacks, as confirmed by the Palestinian Red Crescent. Additionally, six individuals sustained injuries in the Beit Awa area near Hebron.

Further incidents were reported in Riyadh, where four people were injured by debris from a ballistic missile intercepted over the Saudi capital, according to the country’s defense ministry. Multiple explosions were heard in the Al Qusais Industrial Area, as per initial accounts.

Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian cautioned that the Israeli assault on the South Pars gas field could lead to uncontrollable repercussions, extending globally. His apprehensions were voiced before the missile strikes on Ras Laffan in Qatar.

The Ministry of Interior in Qatar reassured the public through social media that its defense team effectively managed the fire outbreak in Ras Laffan. Al Jazeera reported that Qatari authorities informed residents that the security threat has been neutralized, restoring normalcy.

Following a mobile alert to residents warning of an elevated security threat in the Gulf region, a video surfaced showing flames and smoke emanating from Ras Laffan after the alleged Iranian missile strike.

In a statement released via Iranian state media, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) cautioned of imminent strikes targeting major oil and gas facilities in Gulf nations, advising evacuation of civilians and workers near critical energy infrastructure.

Qatar expressed grave concern over the bold missile assaults at Ras Laffan Industrial City, deeming it a direct menace to national security and regional stability. The country’s foreign ministry criticized Iran’s escalatory actions and warned of potential repercussions, asserting Qatar’s right to retaliate and safeguard its sovereignty and citizens.

As per Al Jazeera, Qatar’s Ministry of Interior issued a mobile alert urging residents to remain indoors due to the heightened security threat. QatarEnergy, the state-owned petroleum company, confirmed the missile strikes on Ras Laffan Industrial City and initiated emergency response efforts to contain the ensuing fires and damages.
