Quebec’s famous electric rock duo, renowned for their unique musical style and enigmatic persona concealed behind distinctive polka-dotted costumes, has become a popular Halloween costume choice. Instead of the usual salt-and-pepper shaker attire, individuals can opt for the Angine de Poitrine couple’s costume from Party Expert for around a couple hundred dollars.
Following a surge in interest after media coverage, the costumes quickly sold out online but were restocked the next day. This resurgence in demand raises questions about whether the avant-garde band’s appeal is becoming more mainstream.
Recognized as a symbol of creativity and resistance to artificial intelligence, the duo has garnered a dedicated following for their unconventional approach, including their futuristic sound, claims of being ancient time-traveling beings, and preference for communicating in a fictional language during performances.
For a total of $210, enthusiasts can emulate drummer Klek de Poitrine’s white ensemble and guitarist Khn de Poitrine’s black outfit this Halloween. Despite being contacted by CBC, the band declined to provide comments on the costumes.
Originating from Saguenay, Quebec, the duo emerged in 2019 before gaining traction in the local underground scene and releasing their debut album, “Vol. 1,” in 2024. Their breakthrough came with a live performance at the Festival Trans Musicales in Rennes, France, in December 2025, which propelled them to fame.
Their second album, “Vol. II,” released in April, received widespread acclaim, leading to sold-out concert tickets exceeding $500 and record-breaking attendance at music festivals. Recently, they clinched the prestigious Polaris Album prize and SOCAN Polaris Song Prize for their track “Fabienk.”
Drummer Klek shared, “We’re just two random people who enjoy playing together, and I feel we just took a wave, which was the right time at the right moment,” during an interview with The Canadian Press.
While the official costumes are priced at $105 each, the accompanying masks/hats cost an extra $44.99, making it a costly outfit choice. Some fans have opted for do-it-yourself versions, with one Instagram user gaining popularity for a tutorial on creating a Khn costume.
For those finding the price steep, a homemade rendition embodying Angine de Poitrine’s eccentricity by using household items and creativity may be a more budget-friendly option.
The Party Expert website depicts the costumes as a standout choice for office parties or costume contests, ensuring a memorable entrance amidst traditional Halloween characters. Although the costumes are not explicitly licensed by the band, they closely resemble the artists’ signature style.
Quebec’s math rock sensation, Angine de Poitrine, has captivated audiences worldwide with their otherworldly appearance and fast-paced music, drawing admiration from renowned musicians like deadmau5, Dave Grohl, and Jack White.
