Roger Taylor, the drummer of the iconic band Queen, has been playfully “diagnosed” with ADHD by his wife Sarina, who recently discovered she also has the condition. The couple, married for over 15 years, shared their insights on the I’m ADHD! No You’re Not podcast hosted by comedian Paul Whitehouse and neuroscience specialist Dr Mine Conkbayir.
In addition to discussing ADHD, Taylor, a native of Norfolk aged 76, revealed his long battle with tinnitus, a condition he attributes to years of performing at loud stadium concerts. He expressed relief after finding a cure for his tinnitus through a visit to Harley Street, where he received treatment involving a device known as Haruko and alternative therapies like reiki and sound healing.
Reflecting on his childhood, Taylor shared how he coped with domestic abuse by immersing himself in television and books. He also fondly remembered Freddie Mercury, his late bandmate and close friend, highlighting Mercury’s role in fostering unity within Queen by advocating for equal songwriting credits among the band members.
The intimate conversation shed light on Taylor’s personal struggles and the camaraderie within Queen, emphasizing Mercury’s leadership qualities despite his humble approach. The podcast episode featuring the couple is available weekly on various platforms.
