CCTV footage from the night of his presumed death shows him running towards his hotel complex in a distressed manner, looking back constantly. He was observed clutching onto a white pick-up truck as he navigated through the complex and stumbled.
Following these events, he reportedly traversed rugged terrain surrounding the hotel, eventually jumping into a 10-foot deep creek, proceeding through a shallow stream, and ending up at a nearby construction site where his body was later found.
Lieutenant Colonel Sutthirak Chuthong of Choeng Thale district station stated that the circumstances leading up to his death remain unclear, hinting at the possibility of other individuals being involved.
In the days preceding his demise, Wright had been documenting his experiences in Thailand, indulging in beach cocktails, champagne by infinity pools, and countryside motorbike rides.
A source from the hotel mentioned that Wright had not been visited during his stay and behaved like other guests until he went missing around checkout time.
