Sharon Osbourne enthusiastically supported her decision to have Robbie Williams lead a super band paying homage to Ozzy Osbourne at the Brit Awards. The late rock icon is being honored with the Lifetime Achievement award at this year’s event in Manchester.
Despite some questioning the choice of former Take That member Robbie to perform “No More Tears,” Sharon confidently defended her belief in his suitability for the role.
During an interview at the Co-op Live red carpet, Sharon praised Robbie’s warm and down-to-earth nature, highlighting the close friendship he shared with Ozzy. She mentioned that Robbie readily accepted the opportunity to be a significant part of the tribute.
Describing Robbie as a genuinely warm and humble individual, Sharon drew parallels between his qualities and those of her husband. She expressed anticipation for the touching tribute where Ozzy’s closest friends will honor him.
Sharon mentioned the strong bond between Robbie and Ozzy and emphasized that while she helped form the group for the special performance, she allowed the musicians to have control over selecting the songs.
Robbie was personally invited by Sharon to participate in the tribute due to his friendship with the Black Sabbath frontman and his enduring love for the music. The band will also include longtime musicians who played with Ozzy, such as Adam Wakeman, Robert Trujillo, Tommy Clufetos, and Zakk Wylde, with Robbie as the frontman.
Ozzy passed away at the age of 76 on July 22 last year, shortly after his Back to the Beginning concert.
After the Brits ceremony, Sharon plans to return to the United States, while Kelly will remain in the UK. Kelly recently decided to be closer to her family and will spend at least half of the year in the United States with her children and grandchildren.
Sharon, a grandmother to Jack’s daughters and Kelly’s son, mentioned that Jack is preparing to become a father again. She expressed her willingness to fly back to fulfill her grandmother duties. Both Kelly and Sharon revealed that Jack was disappointed not to be present at the Brits performance.
