Two individuals successfully climbed the Empire State Building in New York City, where they later unfurled a large banner and engaged in a romantic proposal. The climbers, a man and a woman both wearing masks, ascended the broadcast aerial on the iconic building. Reaching the top of the antenna, positioned 443 meters (1,454 feet) above the bustling streets of New York, they displayed a banner bearing the message: “When the power of love beats the love of power the world knows peace,” as reported by CBS News.
Following their ascent to the radio and television transmission tower, the pair began their descent. Upon reaching a lower platform, the man knelt down and proposed to the woman. They shared a tender moment, embracing and exchanging a kiss. Authorities called for a police helicopter, and the duo started their descent at approximately 12:35 pm local time.
Initially, the observation deck below the mast and platform where the proposal took place was crowded with onlookers. However, it was later cleared once the climbers were reported.
