Russia has issued a direct threat to target various locations in the UK that it believes are aiding Ukraine against Moscow. The Russian defense ministry identified what it claims to be production sites providing military equipment to the Ukrainian armed forces for use against Russia. The conflict between Russia and Ukraine began in February 2022 when Russian forces attacked Ukraine.
According to reports, Russia threatened addresses in London, Leicester, and Suffolk. The Russian defense ministry stated that European countries, facing increasing losses and manpower shortages in the Ukrainian Armed Forces, have decided to boost the production and supply of drones to Ukraine for strikes on Russian soil. This move is seen as potentially escalating the military-political situation in Europe.
The ministry warned of potential “terrorist attacks against Russia” that could lead to unpredictable outcomes. Dmitry Medvedev, a senior Kremlin official and former Russian president, emphasized the seriousness of the threat, stating that the list of European facilities producing drones and equipment could become targets for Russian forces.
In addition to the UK sites, alleged production facilities in Germany, Denmark, The Netherlands, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, the Czech Republic, Spain, Italy, Israel, and Turkey were also named by the Russian defense ministry. The Daily Express previously reported on the safest places in the UK in the event of a potential World War 3, suggesting locations away from major military bases and densely populated cities.
Experts recommend visiting areas considered safer in case of a worst-case scenario, emphasizing the importance of avoiding regions close to military installations and large population centers.
