Russia conducted a devastating series of drone and missile attacks on Kyiv overnight, resulting in over a dozen fatalities and 42 injuries in one of the deadliest assaults in Ukraine this year. Despite shooting down 98 drones, Ukrainian officials accused Russia of deliberately targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure. Serhii Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukraine’s president on defense technology development, condemned the indiscriminate nature of the attacks, targeting crucial facilities and causing widespread devastation.

While Russia claimed to have targeted military hubs and supply centers in Kyiv and its vicinity, Ukraine’s plea for additional Patriot systems to counter these assaults went unanswered. The US President had initially offered Ukraine the opportunity to produce the interceptors but later backtracked on the proposal, expressing concerns over technology transfer.
