“Ryanair Flight Emergency: Passenger Injured as Debris Strikes Window”

Published on

A Ryanair flight encountered a mid-air emergency when debris struck a window, causing injury to a passenger who was reportedly partially pulled out. The flight, traveling from Thessaloniki to Memmingen, Germany, had to return to Greece after debris from the engine hit the window.

The pilot identified the issue over North Macedonia and made the decision to go back to Thessaloniki. During the descent, a section of the damaged engine broke off and hit a cabin window, resulting in minor injuries to a passenger.

Witnesses described the window shattering, with videos circulating on social media showing the aftermath. Reports indicated that a man sitting by the window was partially sucked out. Following the incident, the return journey back to Thessaloniki lasted approximately 20 minutes.

The injured passenger, a 61-year-old from Serbia, was promptly taken to a hospital in Thessaloniki by emergency services. He sustained a neck wound and bruises but remained conscious despite being in shock.

In a statement, Ryanair confirmed the incident, mentioning that the flight returned to Thessaloniki after a passenger window dislodged mid-flight. The aircraft landed safely, and passengers disembarked at the terminal. Medical assistance was provided to the injured passenger before arranging a replacement aircraft to transport passengers to Memmingen.
