Oliver Vause, a convicted sex offender from Riddlesden near Keighley, has been sentenced to four years and eight months in prison for deceiving a 13-year-old girl about his age in order to engage in sexual grooming. The court heard that Vause manipulated the teen into sending him inappropriate photos and engaging in sexual conversations.
In addition to grooming the child, Vause was found guilty of inciting a minor to participate in sexual activities and possessing explicit bestiality images. The court emphasized that Vause’s actions were deliberate, manipulative, and sexually driven, causing the young girl to feel intimidated and pressured.
Despite Vause’s claim of innocence, the jury rejected his defense, stating that his behavior was far from harmless role-playing. The judge highlighted Vause’s pattern of predatory behavior and condemned his use of online platforms to exploit and sexualize a child.
The court also raised concerns about Vause’s denial of his attraction to children and the severity of his deviant sexual behavior. Despite claims that his offenses were short-lived, the judge deemed Vause a significant threat to public safety and imposed a 15-year Sexual Harm Prevention Order in addition to his prison term.
