Amanda Holden has noticed a change in her Britain’s Got Talent colleague Simon Cowell, noting that he has reverted to his more direct approach, shedding his “Mr. Soft” persona. As the popular ITV talent competition kicks off, Amanda is pleased to witness Simon’s return to his trademark witty remarks on the current “chaotic” season.
The latest season, which premiered on February 21st, has already sparked frustration among viewers at home. In the initial episode, fans expressed discontent over the perceived excessive use of the famed golden buzzer. Ant and Dec clarified at the beginning of the show that the golden buzzer is pressed by a judge to fast-track a contestant to the semi-finals.
Despite early complaints from fans, Amanda Holden has promised an eventful season filled with drama. In a statement to the Mail, she mentioned, “Simon is back. He has been more lenient in recent times, possibly due to KSI’s blunt feedback on the panel.” She further elaborated that Simon is now more candid in his critiques, stating, “I’m happy to see Simon abandoning his soft approach, though it was enjoyable for a brief period!”
Amanda described the new season as “casual and disorderly,” with KSI’s concise responses adding to the show’s dynamic. She expressed her delight at Simon’s return to form, emphasizing that his witty remarks are sharper than ever. Simon himself has teased fans with promises of surprises and increased behind-the-scenes footage, providing viewers with a peek “behind the Wizard of Oz’s curtain.”
However, Amanda recently disclosed that Simon faced an injury, leading her to temporarily assume his role as head judge. During this period, X Factor runner-up Stacey Solomon filled in as a guest judge. Amanda shared her experience with the Daily Star, expressing discomfort in the head judge’s seat and feeling somewhat isolated during filming.
Discussing Stacey’s guest appearance on the judging panel, Amanda praised her warmth, humor, and relatability, given Stacey’s past as an X Factor contestant. She highlighted Stacey’s down-to-earth nature and lack of ego, remarking on their compatibility in judging styles. Amanda also jokingly mentioned her admiration for Stacey’s parenting skills.
