“Sister’s Throat Slashed: Woman Arrested in Hospital”

Published on

A shocking incident unfolded at a hospital as a woman lying in a hospital bed was taken into custody on a murder charge for fatally slashing her sister’s throat and leaving her body in a distressing scene for her own daughter to discover.

The Metropolitan Police released a video showing a female police officer informing Nancy Pexton, while in her hospital room, that she was being arrested in connection with the death of her sister, Jennifer Abbott, aged 69. Pexton displayed a mix of shock and disbelief upon hearing about the murder charge against her from last June.

Today, Pexton, aged 70, was found guilty of the crime in which she fatally injured Jennifer by cutting her throat and silencing her with tape, leaving her lifeless in her Camden apartment, dressed only in undergarments.

Concerned about Jennifer’s well-being, her family dispatched Pexton’s own daughter to check on her, fully aware that she would come across her deceased aunt. Notably, Jennifer’s dog, Prince, was discovered alive but confined in a bathroom, having endured three days without care.

During Pexton’s visit to her sister’s residence on a day in June the previous year, she viciously attacked Jennifer in the kitchen before moving her remains to another room. Subsequently, she covered the body with a sheet and placed tape over the deceased’s mouth.

After committing the crime, Pexton exited the apartment and falsely informed her general practitioner that she had ingested an overdose, leading to her hospitalization. Despite her denial of the murder accusation, Pexton, who was slightly younger than her sister, was convicted by a jury at the Old Bailey following a brief deliberation period.

Appearing via video link from HMP Bronzefield, Pexton sat in tears as she awaited her verdict. She remained visibly emotional as the jury unanimously declared her guilty.

Prosecutor William Boyce, KC, highlighted the grim details of the crime scene, describing the horrific state in which Jennifer’s body was found, emphasizing the severity of the injuries sustained.

At the hospital, Pexton attempted to mislead the authorities by falsely claiming that her sister would never part with her Rolex watch. However, upon her arrest on June 18, the police discovered the watch in Pexton’s possession, leading her to change her story, asserting that it had been gifted to her by her sister.

Describing Pexton as emotionally volatile and deceitful, the prosecutor emphasized the family dynamics and heightened emotions that culminated in this tragic incident.

Despite the opportunity, Pexton opted not to provide testimony during the trial. Her criminal record includes prior convictions for various offenses, including driving-related incidents and failure to comply with legal orders. Pexton, residing in Gloucester Place, Marylebone, was found guilty of the murder charge she denied.
