Soham Killer Ian Huntley Loses Eyesight After Prison Assault

Published on

Soham killer Ian Huntley has reportedly lost his eyesight following an assault in prison. Huntley, aged 52, was swiftly taken to the hospital last Thursday after the attack at HMP Frankland in County Durham. Sources mentioned that medical professionals made extraordinary efforts to save his life, with prison staff initially presuming him dead upon discovery in a pool of blood.

Recent reports from The Mirror revealed that Huntley, if he recovers, will not return to the prison famously known as Monster Mansion due to the severity of his injuries. Instead, he will be transferred to Ashworth Hospital in Merseyside.

Following multiple strikes resulting in severe head injuries, Huntley was given a slim 5% chance of survival. Emergency services responded to the Category A prison around 9 a.m. on February 26.

The Sun now discloses that Huntley has been confirmed blind after sustaining injuries to his eyes. It is unlikely that he will regain consciousness, as per the reports.

A source stated, “It appears unlikely that he will recover, unless by some miracle. Huntley has not shown signs of improvement since the initial assault. It seems like a matter of time now, perhaps days or weeks. It may be for the best, as few are likely to mourn his passing.”

In a current update on Huntley’s condition, a spokesperson for Durham Constabulary mentioned, “There has been no change in the 52-year-old man’s condition overnight – he remains in hospital in a serious condition.”

After the brutal attack, Huntley was rushed to the hospital in an ambulance, escorted by armed police. Two prison guards and an armed officer accompanied him in the ambulance during the high-security transport.

“He was placed in an induced coma due to the severity of his condition. The helicopter team accompanied him, but air evacuation was not possible to avoid complications. He was transported by road to maintain stability while in a coma,” a source disclosed. “Armed officers are providing continuous security at the hospital.”

Huntley is currently serving a life sentence for the murders of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman in August 2002. He is not eligible for parole until at least 2042.
