Plans for a potential reunion of the iconic Spice Girls to commemorate their 30th anniversary this year have been called off. The reunion, which was anticipated to bring together Melanie C, Emma Bunton, Mel B, Geri Halliwell-Horner, and Victoria Beckham, in celebration of three decades since their debut hit, “Wannabe,” will not be happening as confirmed by Mel C in a recent radio interview.
During the interview on Australia’s KIIS Radio, Mel C expressed that while there are ongoing communications among the group members, there are no immediate plans for a reunion. She maintained optimism about the possibility of a future reunion, stating, “I keep my fingers crossed that you will see the Spice Girls together at some point in the future.”
Fans of the group will be disappointed by this news, especially considering discussions about the reunion were active as recently as January. Reports last April indicated that Geri was in talks with the group’s former manager, Simon Fuller, further fueling speculation about a potential reunion.
Although Victoria Beckham, who missed the last reunion, hinted at a return by expressing interest in a Las Vegas residency, logistical challenges may hinder a full group reunion. The Spice Girls last performed in the US in 2008, with Victoria’s last appearance alongside the group dating back to the London 2012 Olympic Games closing ceremony.
