Stacey Dooley became emotional while sharing details of her ectopic pregnancy during a recent interview. The television personality disclosed the challenging experience and the intense surgery she had to undergo due to internal bleeding.
The 38-year-old mother, who has a daughter named Minnie with Strictly Come Dancing star Kevin Clifton, spoke with Amy Jackson Westwick on her podcast, What’s The Tea, Amy?, where she revealed that she faced another pregnancy last year that did not go smoothly.
Describing the traumatic incident, Stacey recalled the moment in Liverpool when she discovered the ectopic pregnancy and the urgent need for surgery due to internal bleeding. She commended the care she received at Liverpool Women’s Hospital during the ordeal.
This is not the first time Stacey has shared her story. In a previous instance on her show Stacey Sleeps Over, she tearfully discussed her struggles with fertility while talking to Barrie Drewitt-Barlow about surrogacy.
Ectopic pregnancies, affecting around 11,000 pregnancies annually, occur when a fertilized egg implants itself outside the uterus. The NHS states that such pregnancies cannot be saved and typically require medical intervention or surgery for removal.
Reflecting on her journey, Stacey mentioned exploring alternative paths to expand her family after the distressing experience. She emphasized the need to consider different options when faced with unexpected challenges.
Stacey, who met Kevin Clifton on Strictly Come Dancing in 2018 and began dating him the following year after winning the series together, is one of several celebrities who have opened up about their ectopic pregnancy experiences. Charlotte Crosby and Laura Kenny are among others who have shared their stories.
