A storm named Chandra has brought heavy rain and strong winds across the UK, prompting residents to use umbrellas in London’s cold temperatures and causing snowfall in northern regions.

The Met Office has issued multiple weather alerts for the UK, including nine separate warnings – eight yellow alerts and a rare amber alert – covering numerous areas from Plymouth to the Scottish Highlands.
