“Suella Braverman Joins Farage’s Reform Party”

Published on

Suella Braverman has switched allegiance to the Reform Party, becoming the latest Conservative to do so, aligning herself with Nigel Farage’s political movement.

Having previously served as a Cabinet member and facing dismissal twice as Home Secretary by different Prime Ministers, Braverman expressed a sense of belonging upon joining Reform. She criticized the Conservative Party for lacking courage and resolve, stating that Britain is facing significant challenges with issues such as uncontrolled immigration, strained public services, and a sense of insecurity among the populace.

In response, Anna Turley MP, Chair of the Labour Party, accused Farage of recruiting failed Tory politicians like Braverman, highlighting her past role in Brexit and subsequent dismissal as Home Secretary. Turley emphasized Labour’s focus on addressing the cost of living and improving the healthcare system.

Braverman, who served under three Conservative leaders, criticized her former party for what she perceived as betrayal and dishonesty. She claimed that the Tories lacked the backbone and courage needed to make tough decisions for the country.

Focusing on veterans’ concerns, Reform MP Danny Kruger pledged to prioritize ex-military personnel for roles in law enforcement agencies like the police and Border Force if Reform gains power. The party aims to streamline the civil service while enhancing essential public sector services.

Veteran Matthew Hellyer, who heads the Veterans for Reform group, highlighted the need for better support for veterans, citing a rise in suicides within the veteran community. He called for improved healthcare services and continuous assistance for those who have served the country.

Reform chairman Dr. David Bull criticized the treatment of veterans in the UK, denouncing the government’s failure to adequately support those who have defended the nation. He emphasized the importance of valuing and respecting the sacrifices made by military personnel.

Keir Starmer, leader of the Labour Party, positioned his party as the patriotic alternative to Reform, warning of the potential consequences should Farage’s party gain significant political influence. He stressed the need to unite against the divisive forces represented by Reform in the upcoming political landscape.

The article also touched upon the defection of Andrew Rosindell from the Tories to Reform, citing his criticism of the Conservative Party’s handling of the Chagos Islands issue. Shadow armed forces minister Mark Francois welcomed cross-party support on veterans’ issues while questioning the Conservatives’ commitment to defending veterans’ rights in Parliament.
