A man, Christopher Trybus from Swindon, Wiltshire, is facing charges for allegedly contributing to his wife, Tarryn Baird’s, suicide due to severe domestic abuse. The accusations include manslaughter, controlling and coercive behavior, and two counts of rape, presented at Winchester Crown Court.
Prosecutor Tom Little KC described a pattern of abusive behavior by Trybus towards his wife, involving control, coercion, and sexual violence. However, Trybus’s defense, represented by Katy Thorne KC, refutes these claims, stating that the allegations are false and that Baird had mental health issues that may have influenced her actions.
Thorne emphasized that Trybus did not harm his wife and that their intimate life was consensual, including practices like bondage and rough sex. She argued that Baird’s injuries and allegations were untrue, suggesting that they were fabricated for attention and care.
The defense further contends that Baird’s suicide was not a result of Trybus’s actions but rather stemmed from her mental health struggles and lack of support services. Trybus, a software consultant, maintains his innocence, and the trial is ongoing.
