Thousands of TalkTalk customers are set to transition to a new service provider in the upcoming months. The telecommunications company is transferring around 120,000 broadband and home phone subscribers to Rise Fibre, a company established in June 2025. This move will significantly boost Rise Fibre’s customer base to 250,000, while TalkTalk will retain approximately 1.5 million customers.
Affected customers should have received notifications earlier this month regarding the transfer. Their current broadband speed and monthly fees will remain unchanged, and those with a home phone can retain their existing number. However, customers looking to switch to a different provider while still under contract with TalkTalk may face early termination fees.
During the transition, customers should not experience any service disruptions, and there will be no need to replace any broadband equipment. In case of extended service outages, customers are advised to file a complaint as they may be eligible for compensation. Most of the households being transferred are connected through the CityFibre network.
TalkTalk’s website states that they will collaborate with Rise Fibre to complete the account transition process in the coming months. Rise Fibre will provide updates before implementing any changes to billing or account management. Customers will continue to receive support from TalkTalk during the transfer period.
Steve Wilson, CEO of Rise Fibre, emphasized that the transition signifies more than just an acquisition, marking a significant advancement in the UK broadband industry. Rise Fibre aims to address customer demands for improved service, straightforward products, and a user-friendly provider.
If you are out of contract, it’s advisable to review your mobile and broadband expenses as you might be overpaying. Before switching providers, assess your current usage and needs to find the most cost-effective package. Consider using comparison websites to identify the best deals available. If you find a cheaper offer, you can either switch companies or negotiate with your current provider to match the price. Politeness is key when bargaining for a better deal. If your provider cannot offer a better rate, consider switching and explore cashback opportunities through various websites for potential incentives.
