In a harrowing incident, a teenager was abandoned at the scene by his companions after a stolen car they were in flipped over, as per law enforcement authorities. The incident unfolded in Melbourne’s outer southwest in the early hours of Friday, March 13, when a grey Skoda sedan, allegedly involved in an attempt to force another vehicle off the road, met with a tragic accident.
The group of seven teens, aged between 14 and 17, were reportedly traveling in the Skoda and were found in possession of a sword and a significant amount of alcohol. According to Victoria Police Detective Inspector Craig McEvoy, a confrontation ensued between the occupants of a Toyota sedan parked at a shopping center in Tarneitt, Melbourne, and the individuals in the Skoda, leading to a high-speed pursuit.
The two vehicles engaged in a dangerous chase, reaching speeds exceeding 180km per hour, before the Skoda allegedly tried to execute a risky maneuver on the Toyota, resulting in a collision with two other innocent vehicles. Tragically, a 15-year-old occupant of the Skoda was ejected and fatally injured during the rollover, while a female passenger suffered two broken legs.
Following the crash, some occupants of the Skoda fled the scene, leaving the injured behind. Subsequently, police arrested one teenager attempting to escape and another teenager who presented themselves with family members at a hospital. However, three other teens who fled the scene are currently evading authorities.
Inspector McEvoy condemned the incident as a cowardly act, emphasizing the severity of the situation. The details regarding the driver of the stolen Skoda and the alleged theft of the vehicle from a location 20 to 30 kilometers away remain under investigation.
