Published on

A young girl, who was a victim of a sexual assault by teenage boys, expressed that she continues to suffer from intense memories of the incident.

Two 15-year-old boys received non-custodial sentences for sexually assaulting two girls in Fordingbridge, Hampshire. The sentencing judge at Southampton Crown Court stated his intention to prevent unnecessary criminalization of the teenagers. Another boy, now 14, was also found guilty in relation to the second assault and an indecent images offense.

The victim has disclosed the lasting impact of the assault, mentioning that she constantly feels the perpetrators’ presence and lives in fear. She detailed how the trauma has affected her mental well-being and daily life, experiencing vivid flashbacks and struggling with sleep and motivation.

Following the distressing case, Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced that it would be reviewed by the Court of Appeal under the unduly lenient scheme. One of the victims, now 15 years old, questioned why individuals who commit criminal acts should not face consequences, emphasizing the importance of accountability.

The victim shared her ongoing struggle with the trauma, expressing how the assault has changed her perception of her own body and impacted her daily routines. Her father expressed disappointment and anger towards the justice system for what he perceived as inadequate protection and support for his daughter.

The family remains deeply affected by the incident, feeling let down by the justice system and worried about the long-term effects on the victim while the perpetrators continue with their lives.
