The family of a girl who tragically lost her life in a car crash expressed their sorrow, revealing she was nearing her 16th birthday. Lexi Catlin passed away in a road accident on the A355 in Beaconsfield last Friday. In a statement from Thames Valley Police, her family described Lexi as a kind-hearted, funny, and outgoing 15-year-old whose presence brightened every room. They highlighted her love for spending time with friends, enjoying life to the fullest.
The family emphasized Lexi’s unfulfilled dreams and the immense love they had for her, noting the deep void her absence has left in their lives. They mentioned their plans for a private gathering to commemorate what would have been Lexi’s 16th birthday, requesting privacy during this challenging period. The tribute concluded with a heartfelt message bidding farewell to Lexi as the brightest star in the sky.
According to Thames Valley Police, the fatal collision involved a white Toyota Yaris, a grey Toyota Hilux, and a motorcycle on the A355 in Buckinghamshire at approximately 9:20 pm. Lexi, a passenger on the motorcycle, tragically lost her life at the scene. The motorcycle rider, a 16-year-old boy from Beaconsfield, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. Additionally, two other teenagers on a motorcycle, a 16-year-old boy, and a 15-year-old girl from High Wycombe, were also detained under the same suspicion.
The police have referred the incident to the Independent Office for Police Conduct due to the presence of a police vehicle nearby. The authorities clarified that the police vehicle was traveling on the opposite side without using emergency lights. Lead investigator Oliver Cahill-Smith extended condolences to Lexi’s family and urged witnesses to come forward. He also appealed to drivers with dash-cams who were in the area before the collision to review their footage for potential assistance in the investigation.
