A brave teenager demonstrated quick thinking by using his personal boat to rescue two individuals who had fallen from an inflatable toy in the waters near the Isle of Skye. The Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) commended the young hero for his actions.
Volunteers from RNLI’s Kyle of Lochalsh station received a distress call around 9pm on Saturday regarding two men struggling in Broadford Bay. Before the RNLI team could reach the scene, a teenager, approximately 16 years old, spotted the distressed men, took his own boat out, and safely brought them back to shore.
Following the teenager’s rescue, the RNLI crew confirmed no injuries and concluded their involvement. Andrew MacDonald, the helm at Kyle RNLI, emphasized the importance of the teenager’s swift response in preventing a more severe situation.
MacDonald also reminded the public to use inflatable toys only in swimming pools, not in open waters. He stressed the necessity of wearing life jackets and having communication devices for emergencies while near water bodies.
