Two teenagers have been apprehended following an apparent “targeted attack” involving weapons at an Asda car park in Edinburgh. The incident occurred at The Jewel Asda car park on Wednesday, February 25, around 4:20 pm and seemed to involve two distinct groups. Law enforcement officials have confirmed the arrest of two individuals, aged 17 and 18.

Fortunately, there were no reported injuries, and authorities are currently searching for other individuals implicated in the altercation. The detained duo faces charges related to assault endangering life, breach of peace, and weapons-related offenses.

Police are categorizing the event as a “targeted attack” and are actively pursuing leads to identify other participants. Chief Inspector Alison Macdonald emphasized the continuation of targeted patrols to prevent and identify criminal behavior. She stressed the zero-tolerance policy towards such violence, highlighting the commitment of officers to combat crime and antisocial conduct in the community. Macdonald urged anyone with concerns to reach out to local law enforcement or contact them via the non-emergency number 101.

An eyewitness, aged 49, recounted the incident as unexpected and alarming, stating, “All of a sudden it just erupted. I don’t know if it was rival gangs or what but it’s not what you expect in broad daylight at the local supermarket.”

A Police Scotland spokesperson disclosed that the two arrested males, aged 17 and 18, are facing charges linked to assault endangering life, breach of peace, and weapons offenses following a disturbance in The Jewel area of Edinburgh.
