Recent revelations from a public inquiry highlighted the parents of Rudakubana, Alphonse Rudakubana and Laetitia Muzayire, for their knowledge of his dangerous interests in violence and possession of knives. The inquiry chairman condemned their neglectful behavior, stating their failure to act on the evident danger posed by their son was inexcusable.
On July 29, 2024, at the age of 17, Rudakubana conducted a violent rampage during a children’s dance class, resulting in the deaths of three young girls and injuries to several others.
