Tesco is set to offer complimentary beverages and snacks this upcoming weekend in designated parking spots at selected stores. The supermarket will introduce exclusive Park & Pause areas in ten branches on Saturday, April 11, where patrons can enjoy a free Tesco Finest hot drink and a biscuit.
The initiative aims to provide customers with a moment of respite following the Easter period. Research by Tesco reveals that 42% of Brits seek solace in supermarkets for a brief escape. At the Park & Pause spots, Tesco representatives will personally deliver refreshments to cars between 8am and 5pm, identifiable by a stopwatch symbol.
According to Tesco, parents with children under four are most inclined to use a Tesco visit as a way to carve out some personal time, with 68% admitting to this, compared to 38% of those without kids.
The Park & Pause scheme aligns with Tesco’s new “Need anything from Tesco?” campaign. In a recent gesture of goodwill, the Kirkwall Tesco branch in Orkney distributed surplus bananas to local schools and community groups after over-ordering 380 boxes of the fruit. The excess bananas were shared with various organizations in line with Tesco’s community policy.
Moreover, Tesco has boosted wages for numerous employees as part of a substantial £200 million investment. Shop workers and online fulfillment center staff now receive a 5.1% pay raise, with hourly rates reaching £13.28, and employees in London earning up to £14.55 per hour within the M25 area.
