In a daring incident captured on video, thieves used a tractor to forcefully remove a cash machine from a wall in a Scottish border town. The brazen theft occurred in the early hours of Monday at a Co-op store on Coldstream High Street, prompting a swift response from emergency services.
Footage from the scene showed an individual in a hood operating the tractor under the cover of darkness. The ATM was then lifted onto a waiting Nissan Navara, with one of the culprits quickly transferring to the car’s passenger seat before fleeing the scene. Alarms blared from the store as the thieves made off with the cash machine.
The front of the store sustained significant damage, with debris littering the area following the theft. Police secured the site with tape and cones as they recovered the stolen cash machine, along with the tractor and Nissan Navara used in the heist, for forensic examination.
An investigation is underway, and authorities are actively seeking the perpetrators. Detective Constable Callum Wood urged anyone with information or who witnessed suspicious activity in the vicinity between 1:30 am and 2 am on Monday to come forward. Dash-cam or CCTV footage from the area during that time period is also being requested for review.
