A teenage girl tragically lost her life at Kingsbury Water Park in north Warwickshire as her father desperately searched for her in the water, according to witnesses. The incident occurred on bank holiday Monday, prompting emergency services to respond swiftly to reports of a girl in distress in the water.
The 16-year-old girl was retrieved from the water around 7:20 pm by emergency teams, but despite their efforts, she was pronounced dead at the scene. Eyewitnesses revealed that the girl was part of a group jumping from a bridge into The River Tame when she disappeared underwater.
Chief Inspector Ben Hembry, North Warwickshire Area Commander, mentioned that a large-scale search involving police, ambulance, and fire services was conducted, leading to the recovery of the girl’s body. The park, a popular spot for local youths, witnessed the tragic incident that has left the community in mourning.
Following the incident, Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service issued a warning about the dangers of entering open water, emphasizing the risks associated with cold water shock and hidden hazards beneath the surface. Kingsbury Water Park, managed by Warwickshire County Council, spans over 600 acres and features 15 lakes.
The council spokesperson expressed their condolences to the family and friends of the victim, acknowledging the sorrowful loss experienced at Kingsbury Water Park over the holiday weekend. The community is deeply saddened by the tragic events that unfolded, highlighting the importance of water safety awareness in such recreational areas.
