Sameeha Rahman, 15, and her mother Shelina Rahman, 41, along with seven-year-old Musa Ahmed and other family members, encountered difficulties in the water on July 22. Despite significant efforts from the family to assist each other, Sameeha and Shelina lost their lives, with Musa airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

Various family members were also hospitalized after the incident but are now recovering. Detective Chief Inspector Al Pitcher, heading the investigation, expressed support for the affected family during this challenging period. The authorities are actively investigating the circumstances leading to the tragedy, collaborating with key witnesses and emergency response partners.

Chief Inspector Michelle Sparks commended the local community for their swift and selfless response to the incident. The tragic event prompted an outpouring of support and solidarity from the community, showcasing its strength and unity in times of distress. Essex Police received the emergency call at 5:35 pm on July 22, reporting multiple individuals in distress near Seaview Avenue.

Musa’s father, Shahin Ahmed, called for enhanced safety measures at West Mersea Beach following the incident, emphasizing the importance of additional lifesaving equipment and clear warning signs. He hopes lessons can be learned from this tragedy to prevent similar incidents in the future. The East of England Ambulance Service transported patients to the hospital after the incident at Sea View Holiday Park.
