A tragic incident resulted in the death of a 15-year-old boy who was struck by a falling tree while on a walk at a holiday camp. The unfortunate event occurred on July 27 at YMCA Camp Widjiwagan in Antioch when two camp staff members encountered a fallen tree leaning against another tree along the trail. The victim, identified as Camden Robert Callihan, was a camper at the camp according to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department.

During the hike, the staff had warned the campers not to touch the tree as they passed beneath it. Despite this warning, it was reported that as the victim and a friend walked under the tree, the friend inadvertently caused it to fall on Callihan by touching it. Prompt medical attention was provided by the camp staff, and Callihan was swiftly transported to Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Unfortunately, all efforts to save him were in vain, and he succumbed to his injuries. The police have ruled Callihan’s death as accidental.

The police statement on July 27 confirmed the accidental nature of the incident, detailing how the counselors and campers encountered the fallen tree and the sequence of events leading to the tragedy.
