Tragedy struck as the body of a teenage boy was discovered in a lake following his disappearance while swimming at a nature reserve. The boy, identified as Declan Sawyer, 15, reportedly encountered difficulties after entering Swanholme Lakes in Lincoln on a Sunday afternoon.
Authorities were alerted around 2:30 pm and immediately initiated a large-scale search effort. Police, along with an underwater search unit and specialized divers, tirelessly worked to locate the missing teenager amid safety concerns.
Following an extensive search of the lake, officials sadly recovered Declan’s body. Lincolnshire Police have urged the public to refrain from speculating or sharing unverified details online regarding the incident.
A spokesperson for the police force expressed condolences to Declan’s family during this challenging period. The spokesperson emphasized the impact on Declan’s friends and the local community, especially as the incident coincided with the start of half-term week.
