A tragic incident occurred in Moore, Oklahoma, where an 86-year-old woman named Beatrice Carruth passed away after a dog attack while she was caring for her son’s dog. Police responded to a call at her residence on NE 27th Street and Highland Drive at around 5:45 pm on Thursday, July 2, where they found the woman with severe injuries.
Efforts were made to save her life on the scene by applying tourniquets to control the bleeding until paramedics arrived. Despite being in critical condition when taken to the hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries. The dog involved was later removed by Moore Animal Control.
A Labrador retriever mixed with an American pit bull terrier was identified as the breed of the dog responsible for the attack. The dog was put down following the incident. It was revealed that the woman had been looking after the dog while her son, Jason Clay Ingram, was incarcerated.
Court records showed that Ingram had been arrested earlier for alleged violent acts against his mother. Family members of Carruth stated that she had been attacked by the dog days after the previous incident. They had urged Ingram to have the dog euthanized at that time, but he insisted on his mother continuing to care for it.
The family is seeking additional charges against Ingram, believing that Carruth was coerced into looking after the dangerous animal. The Moore Police Department expressed condolences to all affected by the tragic event.
