An 11-year-old girl and a 45-year-old man tragically lost their lives in a fire at a Chinese takeaway in Grimoldby, Lincolnshire. The incident occurred early Wednesday morning, prompting emergency services to respond to reports of a blaze at the restaurant.

The victims were rushed to the hospital, where the girl and the man were pronounced dead. Additionally, five other individuals were hospitalized, including a woman in her 30s in serious condition. Two men in their 40s and two children under ten have since been discharged from the hospital.

An investigation conducted by Lincolnshire Fire and Rescue revealed that the fire was accidental and linked to an air fryer. Chief Fire Officer Mark Baxter expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives and extended condolences to the affected family, friends, and community.

Following the incident, Manby Middlegate was temporarily closed with a diversion in place for several hours. Chief Superintendent Philip Baker emphasized the ongoing efforts to determine the cause of the fire, urging the public to refrain from speculation and allow the investigation to uncover the facts.
