An 18-month-old child passed away in France during the recent heatwave after allegedly being left in a car by a parent en route to work. The toddler was discovered unconscious in the vehicle at a car park on the university medical campus in Marseille on Tuesday. Emergency responders swiftly transported the child to La Timone Hospital due to suffering from hyperthermia, but unfortunately, they did not survive.
Reports from BFM Marseille Provence suggest that the parent unintentionally left the child in the car while heading to work at the campus. This tragic incident occurred amidst France enduring a severe heatwave, with temperatures significantly exceeding normal levels across the nation. The ongoing heatwave, characterized by temperatures ranging from 32C to 38C in various parts of France and western Europe, is anticipated to persist until the week’s end according to AccuWeather.
France experienced its hottest day ever recorded on Wednesday, as confirmed by the national weather agency Météo-France. Palluau in the Vendée department registered a record-breaking temperature of 43.8C, surpassing the previous national high.
