A tragic incident at Mersea beach claimed the lives of a mother and her daughter who were swept away by a strong tide, according to a family member. Teacher Shelina Rahman, 41, and her 15-year-old daughter Sameeha lost their lives while trying to rescue Sameeha’s seven-year-old cousin, Musa Rahman, at Mersea Island in Essex. The young boy is currently in critical condition in the hospital. The family was just about to leave the beach after a day out when the tragedy unfolded.

The unfortunate incident involving Shelina and Sameeha is believed to have been caused by a powerful tide. Shahin Ahmed, the father who was present during the tragedy, recounted that 12 family members were at the beach when the incident occurred. He rushed into the water to assist his family members after being alerted to their distress. Bystanders, including Craig Bowe, helped bring the three individuals ashore, with Craig’s wife Carly joining efforts to revive Shelina and Sameeha.

Dr. Mansur Rahman, Shelina’s husband and Sameeha’s father, expressed his grief over the loss of his wife and daughter. He thanked the community for their support during this challenging time, acknowledging the outpouring of love and prayers.
