Newly released footage captures the horrifying moment when a plane caught fire in a tragic accident that claimed the lives of 15 individuals. The video surfaced while The National Transportation Safety Board is conducting an inquiry into the fatal incident that occurred on November 4, 2025, in Kentucky.
During takeoff at Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, a UPS jet’s engine and pylon detached from the wing, leading to the deaths of three crew members and 12 individuals on the ground. The aircraft involved, a 34-year-old McDonnell Douglas MD-11F, was en route to Hawaii at the time of the mishap.
The video footage depicts a massive fireball engulfing the plane, resulting in extensive debris scattered across the area. Following the crash, all MD-11 aircraft were grounded by the FAA for several months.
This week, the NTSB is convening a hearing in Washington to investigate the cause of the collision. The victims on the ground have been identified, including Alain Rodriguez Colina, who succumbed to injuries on Christmas Day. UPS confirmed the identities of its employees who were onboard the fatal flight.
At the time of the accident, reports indicated that the aircraft was carrying a substantial amount of fuel. Pablo Rojas, an aviation attorney, described the plane as resembling a bomb due to the fuel quantity, which fueled the inferno that engulfed the aircraft and spread to nearby establishments.
Firefighters worked tirelessly throughout the night to contain the blaze, which extended over a significant area and involved a search for potential victims.
