Twisted triple murderer Valdo Calocane, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia in 2020, is currently held under high security at Ashworth High Secure Hospital in Maghull, near Liverpool. Calocane was convicted of killing three individuals and attempting to kill three others during a violent spree in Nottingham on June 13, 2023.
At Ashworth, Calocane is subjected to a strict long-term segregation (LTS) protocol due to his continued threat level. The facility, known for housing some of the UK’s most dangerous offenders, has assigned Calocane to a secure room with a hatch on the door, adding an extra layer of security.
Under constant supervision, Calocane has minimal interaction with other patients due to his unpredictable behavior. He is confined to a sparse cell with basic amenities, closely monitored during limited periods outside the room. Meals and medications are passed to him through a hatch to mitigate any potential risks.
An inquiry revealed that Nottinghamshire’s mental health trust had restricted access to records detailing Calocane’s past interactions with staff. This development comes as authorities continue to ensure the safety of both staff and patients in light of Calocane’s history of extreme violence.
