A key advisor to former President Donald Trump has expressed concerns over the possibility of Israel considering the use of a nuclear weapon in the ongoing Middle East conflict.

David Sacks, who serves as the head of artificial intelligence and cryptocurrency matters in the Trump administration, issued a stark warning suggesting that if Israel faced a significant attack, it might resort to employing nuclear capabilities.

He highlighted the dangers of an “escalatory approach” in the conflict involving Iran and Hezbollah in Lebanon, emphasizing the potential for severe consequences for Israel. Sacks pointed out the risk of Israel escalating the conflict by contemplating the use of a nuclear weapon.

In contrast to the more aggressive rhetoric from Trump and US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Sacks took a more cautious stance regarding the conflict, noting the risks involved.

With growing global concerns over oil prices and security, Trump called for international support to safeguard the vital shipping route in the Strait of Hormuz. Responding to this, the UK stated that it was exploring various options in coordination with allies to ensure the safety of maritime traffic.

Despite the ongoing military actions by Israel and the US against Iran, a clear resolution to the conflict remains elusive. Meanwhile, Israel has also been conducting operations in Lebanon against Hezbollah, a key Iranian ally.

Amid declining public approval ratings for the Trump administration ahead of the upcoming midterm elections, Sacks suggested that it might be prudent to declare victory and disengage from the Middle East conflict. He highlighted the preference among market forces for a resolution to the situation.

In particular, Sacks emphasized the potential danger of a nuclear weapon being utilized in Israel due to the escalating conflict dynamics. He expressed concerns about the extent of damage Israel might sustain if the conflict prolonged, underscoring the catastrophic implications of nuclear escalation.

While Trump shows no signs of scaling back military actions against Iran, his recent remarks following a US military operation targeting Kharg Island indicated a willingness to maintain pressure on Iran. He highlighted the strength of the military operation while also signaling a willingness to reconsider decisions based on future developments in the region.
