President Donald Trump has shared his expectations regarding the duration of the ongoing conflict with Iran. The US leader made these remarks amidst Iran’s retaliatory actions following the US-Israeli military operation that resulted in the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
Iran has been targeting US bases in neighboring countries, indicating that the turmoil may persist for several weeks rather than just a few days. President Trump mentioned to the Daily Mail that historically, such conflicts have lasted around four weeks, suggesting a similar timeline for the current situation in Iran.
Expressing confidence in the progress made so far, Trump stated that the operation is proceeding according to plan, with significant achievements in eliminating key figures within Iran. The UK has initiated a large-scale operation to assist British citizens in the Gulf region amidst the ongoing missile strikes by Iran.
British nationals are advised to remain in their current locations, follow local authorities’ instructions, and stay updated on the rapidly changing travel advice from the Foreign Office. Efforts are being made to facilitate the registration of citizens in countries like Bahrain, Israel, Palestine, Qatar, and the UAE to ensure their safety during the crisis.
Over 76,000 individuals, primarily in the UAE, have already registered through the online system established by the government to provide timely updates during international emergencies. This large-scale consular operation, involving multiple countries simultaneously, is unprecedented in its scope.
The initiative to support British nationals, spearheaded by Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper and minister Hamish Falconer, coincides with the continuation of US and Israeli military actions against Iran, marking the second day of combat operations.
