Donald Trump’s Scottish golf course took advantage of the disruption caused by the US President’s conflict with Iran to attract more business, according to uncovered emails. The communications, obtained by the Mirror, show that staff at Trump’s Turnberry resort in Ayrshire reached out to golf tour operators to propose redirecting trips originally planned for the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to their own facility.

In the email sent to members of the International Association of Golf Tour Operators (IAGTO), a business development manager from Trump Turnberry acknowledged the potential impact of recent events in the Middle East on UAE bookings. The sender offered to arrange tours that were affected by the turmoil to be held at Turnberry instead.

The email highlighted an uptick in last-minute bookings for golf rounds and accommodations at Turnberry due to altered travel plans. The manager expressed willingness to assist with a “stay and play” option for interested clients and invited further discussion on how they could help.

When approached for comment by the Mirror, the Trump Organisation, which manages the course, did not immediately respond. Trump himself visited Turnberry last year and met with Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula Von Der Leyen at the resort’s hotel.

The ongoing tensions between the US and Iran have led to potential retaliatory threats against the UAE and neighboring countries in the region. Travel disruptions persist following Trump’s military actions in the area, with no signs of full recovery yet.

In recent statements, Trump warned Iran of further consequences if they do not comply with demands related to the Strait of Hormuz within 48 hours. He emphasized potential attacks on key infrastructures, including power plants, as part of the ultimatum.

The situation remains tense in the region as global attention focuses on the unfolding developments amid heightened geopolitical uncertainties.
