Anne Robinson, aged 81, has announced her decision to depart from her £4 million renovated Cotswolds barn, located just outside Hatherop village, following nearly four decades residing in the area.

Renowned for hosting the BBC game show The Weakest Link, Anne expressed her emotions, stating, “I am leaving the Cotswolds after 40-odd years. A heartbreaking decision.”

In a conversation with The Telegraph, Anne disclosed that her desire to be closer to her daughter, Emma, as she ages, is the primary motive behind this significant relocation.

Despite her good physical condition, Anne expressed concern about her daughter, the offspring of her first husband, the late Scottish journalist Charles Wilson, worrying about her well-being from a distance if she were to face health challenges.

As Anne approaches her 82nd birthday, she emphasized her autonomy, mentioning, “I wouldn’t pass a driving test. I don’t want anyone to dictate my future.”

She shared her acquisition of a charming fourth-floor terrace with lush greenery overlooking Hyde Park, accompanied by a small attached flat, strategically situated just a few streets away from Emma.

Reflecting on the transformations in the quaint village of Bibury, where she first settled in the Cotswolds with her family, Anne noted the influx of “day trippers” altering the village’s ambiance.

Discussing the influx of prominent personalities and celebrities making the Cotswolds their home, Anne highlighted the arrivals of tech giants like Jony Ive from Apple and Australian designer Marc Newson, jokingly referring to the area as “Sili-Coln-Valley.”

While expressing her fondness for the Cotswolds, Anne praised TV personality Jeremy Clarkson for his support of local farmers at Diddly Squat Farm near Chadlington village.

Despite her melancholy over leaving the Cotswolds, Anne is looking forward to exploring the offerings of the bustling capital in collaboration with Emma, including visits to the Tate and attending theater performances.
