Lorraine Kelly recently shared insights into her enduring career, spanning over 40 years, emphasizing that she does not take her success for granted. Beginning as a trainee reporter at age 17, she transitioned to on-screen roles in 1984 as TV-am’s Scotland Correspondent, later appearing on shows like GMTV and Daybreak.
Recalling the uncertainties of her early career, Kelly mentioned living contract to contract, unsure of what the future held. Despite facing challenges, including losing work after giving birth to her daughter Rosie, now 31, she remained resilient, describing the period as particularly challenging.
Reflecting on her freelance status, she expressed gratitude for regaining stability and eventually hosting her own ITV show since 2010. Despite the show’s success, Kelly remains humble, highlighting the unpredictability of the industry and her renewed perspective since becoming a grandmother.
While the recent ITV daytime schedule changes resulted in fewer episodes of her show and a shorter runtime, Kelly remains optimistic, acknowledging the evolving media landscape’s demands. She emphasized adaptability and the ever-changing nature of her work, expressing enthusiasm for collaborating with her team amidst uncertainties.
Although her show has been off the air since March 26, Kelly is anticipated to return on May 4, maintaining her dedication to her craft and the dynamic television environment.
