A significant snowstorm is expected to sweep across the United Kingdom in the coming days, impacting major cities such as London and Birmingham.

According to the GFS weather model, several inches of snow could accumulate starting on February 15, affecting various cities in southern and central England, as well as Wales and Northern Ireland, around 3 am.

Subsequently, the snow is forecasted to spread throughout the UK. By midday on February 15, heavy snowfall is anticipated across a large portion of England, with the possibility of snow beginning in Scotland around the same time.

Northern regions of England, including Greater Manchester and Yorkshire, are likely to witness snowfall by midnight, with southern parts of Scotland and the northeast of England expecting heavy snow on February 16.

Snow coverage projections indicate widespread snowfall across the UK on February 17, with most regions likely to experience snow accumulation as indicated by the purple shading on the charts.

In terms of snow depth, the Scottish Highlands could see up to 33cm (13 inches) of snow, while South Wales may receive around 23cm (nine inches) and parts of southern England could expect approximately 14cm (5.5 inches) of snow.

The Met Office has suggested the possibility of snowfall in various regions later in the month, warning of wintry conditions affecting southern areas. The agency’s forecast from February 7 to 16 predicts the likelihood of rain and snow in northern England and Scotland due to frontal systems moving over the UK.

While the BBC Weather forecast for February 9 to 15 suggests a colder weather pattern developing, with temperatures dropping below average and the potential for wintry conditions, widespread snowfall remains less probable. The forecast indicates changeable conditions with drier periods interspersed with occasional wintry showers.

Overall, the weather outlook for the upcoming weeks indicates variable conditions with the potential for wintry weather in certain regions, emphasizing the need for preparedness against colder temperatures and possible snow showers.
